About the Course

Social media assists NHS and healthcare organisations, patients and staff to engage directly with each other in a simple and easy way and without hierarchy. It is an effective way to learn, connect and support however it also has its pitfalls and whilst many nurses are digitally competent they may not be digitally professional. Unless clinicians are able to be digitally professional the negative effects of social media can start to outweigh the positive.

So how do we enable ourselves, our colleagues and our organisations to be digitally professional?

How do we promote digital professionalism in nursing?

This virtual workshop explores the fundamentals of digital professionalism and the rise of digital communication in nursing. The workshop covers the impact of digital communication in nursing, the rise of social media, social media guidance for nurses, and the positive and negative effects of social media.

The workshop will also cover boundaries in digital spaces, digital footprints, evidence and research and social media, some examples of good practice, and, most importantly how we can enable digital professionalism in ourselves and within our organisations.
